Your Privacy Matters. Winged is built on trust. We collect only what's necessary to help you find meaningful connections and provide your AI companion ("Double"). We never sell your data or use your conversations for advertising.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Winged ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use our mobile application and services. By using Winged, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Age Restriction: Winged is only for users 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, sexual orientation
- Profile Information: Photos, bio, interests, preferences, occupation, education
- Voice Data: Voice recordings used to train your AI Double companion
- Messages: Conversations with matches and with your AI Double
- Payment Information: Processed securely through Apple App Store (we do not store payment card details)
2.2 Information We Collect Automatically
- Location Data: Your approximate location to show nearby matches (only when permission is granted)
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, IP address
- Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features you use, time spent, preferences
- Camera & Photo Library: To upload profile photos (only when permission is granted)
- Microphone: To record voice messages and train your AI Double (only when permission is granted)
- Contacts: To block people you know and invite friends (only when permission is granted)
2.3 SMS Messaging Data
When you opt in to receive SMS notifications from Winged, we collect:
- Phone Number: Your mobile phone number for account verification and SMS delivery
- SMS Delivery Data: Delivery confirmations, timestamps, and engagement metrics
- Communication Preferences: When SMS messages are sent and received
SMS Communications via Twilio: We use Twilio, a third-party messaging service, to send you:
- Account verification codes
- Date reminders and confirmations
- Important account notifications
- Opt-in messaging from your AI dating assistant ("Double")
We do NOT: Share your phone number with other users or third parties for marketing purposes, sell your phone number or SMS data, or use your SMS data for advertising purposes.
2.3 Biometric Data
Your voice recordings are considered biometric data under privacy laws. When you train your AI Double, we use voice processing technology to create a voice model. This data is:
- Used solely to provide the AI Double feature
- Processed by our trusted partner ElevenLabs
- Stored securely and never sold or used for advertising
- Deletable at any time from your account settings
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide Core Services: Create and maintain your account, show you compatible matches, enable messaging
- AI Double Feature: Train your personalized AI companion to chat on your behalf
- Match Algorithm: Analyze preferences, interests, and behavior to suggest compatible matches
- Safety & Moderation: Monitor conversations for harmful content, enforce community guidelines, prevent fraud and abuse
- Customer Support: Respond to your inquiries and resolve technical issues
- Product Improvement: Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve features and user experience
- Legal Compliance: Comply with laws, respond to legal requests, enforce our terms of service
4. Third-Party Services
We work with trusted partners to provide our services. These partners have access to certain data as necessary to perform their functions:
4.1 Infrastructure & Backend
- Supabase: Database and authentication infrastructure (Privacy Policy)
- Firebase (Google): Push notifications only (Analytics disabled) (Privacy Policy)
4.2 AI & Voice Processing
- ElevenLabs: Voice cloning and AI companion technology (Privacy Policy)
- OpenAI: AI-powered venue ranking and selection for date suggestions (Privacy Policy)

Important: These third parties are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify. We do not sell your data to any third party.
5. Safety Features
Your safety is our priority. We provide the following safety tools:
- Report Users: You can report profiles or content that violates our community guidelines
- Block Users: You can block contacts and other users to prevent interactions
- Safety Guidelines: In-app resources with dating safety tips and best practices
Reported content is reviewed by our moderation team to enforce community guidelines and terms of service.
6. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share your data only in these limited circumstances:
- With Other Users: Your profile information and messages are shared with your matches
- Service Providers: Third-party partners listed above who help us operate the app
- Legal Obligations: When required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with prior notice)
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize data sharing
7. Data Retention
- Active Accounts: We retain your data as long as your account is active
- Deleted Accounts: When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where legally required to retain it
- Voice Data: Your voice recordings and AI models are deleted when you delete your Double or account
- Legal Holds: Data may be retained longer if required for legal, security, or safety purposes
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:
- End-to-end encryption for messages
- Secure HTTPS connections for all data transmission
- Regular security audits and updates
- Access controls and authentication for internal systems
However: No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
- Deletion: Delete your account and associated data

Winged is strictly for users 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately. If you believe a minor is using Winged, please contact us at support@wingedapp.com.
11. International Data Transfers
Winged operates globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and European Union. These countries may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.
When we transfer data internationally, we use:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
- Adequacy decisions where applicable
- Other lawful transfer mechanisms
